Photo by @kitracahana // Fifteen-year-old Sasha Jaffarove explores the inside of the Shasta Lake Caverns in California. She is searching for the perfect spot to set up the Cave Mapper, a device that she invented and built that maps out the inside of caves on July 9, 2016. Since 4th grade she has been developing the Cave Mapper, a device that is able to create a 3D map of a cave or an enclosed space. She built and programmed her Cave Mapper and is running it using Raspberry Pi and a LIDAR. Sasha was photographed for the National Geographic 2017 special issue #GenderRevolution.
